DLP #9

Good morning!

Documented Life Project
Feb 28th
Woohoo...two months down!
I'm getting closer!

Art Challenge - Using at least 5 layers
Journal Prompt - Give me a high 5

I don't know if I mentioned it or not but you don't have to use both challenge & prompt.
With this challenge I did not worry about the "high 5"

Here is my page.....

I started with a layer of book paper,
added a light layer of gesso,
since I rarely use my sprays I decide to play with them for layer #3,

on top of that I started stamping random stamps all over
and finished with a couple of stencils and paint for layer #5.

Below is the a look at the last challenge as well as another look at this one.

This is my favorite spread so far!

DLP #8

Good morning everyone!

I went pretty easy with this
Documented Life Project page.

Art Challenge - Repeating Elements
Journal Prompt - It's worth repeating

I started with the leftover paints from the last project that I did
spreading them all over the page...

I kinda liked how that looked but I had this stencil and always wanted to overlap it and see how it looked,
(my repeated element)
so I took three coordinating paint colors and did this...

I LOVE IT!

Now what do I do?
I don't want to cover it!

Ah ha!

Paint a flower!
Add a quote!
Happy place!

Hi-dee Ho Artsy Peeps!

Documented Life Project
Feb 14th
Art Challenge - Cover up the good stuff
Journal Prompt - Going undercover

Having trouble covering things up
this challenge had me really thinking hard.....
"What good stuff am I going to put down and then cover up?"

After looking through my hoarded stash of papers...

this is my interpretation.....

I started with this paper below.....

Once I got this paper laid down I just went a bit nuts with some paints
then added my word "Dream"
and
finished with a stars stencil.
Simple and so much fun!

DLP #6

Hello crafty peeps!

I'm finally into February with the
Documented Life Projects!

February's Theme is Layers you will Love!
Feb 7th Challenge - When not to Stop
Journal Prompt - "Don't stop till you get enough"

This one was quite a challenge for me!
I have such a hard time covering things up in the layering processes!
So what I did was grab some old scrap papers from my scrap stash and started with that.
Ripped papers and glued them down,
then I added some texture with a layer of stenciling with modeling paste,
on top of that I grabbed some bitty scraps of lace trims that I had no idea what to do with but to stick in a jar for ever!

From there I decided to cover it all up
(because I thought it was terrible)
with paints.
Then I added the journal prompt
(using alphabet letters from My Artistic Adventures Etsy)

Our last challenge before Spring/Summer break is going on now over at
My Artistic Adventures Challenge blog
(check out the link below for more info)
The theme is Spring Colors!
Hope you can join us!
***

And still feeling like it needed more I sprinkled some glitter over all!

Happy!

DLP #5

Howdy friends!

Woohoo
#5,
 January 31st is done!
I'm only about 3 months behind!

This Challenge was Under Paper
The Journal Prompt was What Lies Beneath

Now I don't usually work with an under paper so what I did was while I was working on #4's challenge I grabbed a piece of card stock and smooshed it into my leftover paints in the plate I was using and ended up with this.....

I glued it down in my journal and added some antiqued tissue paper on top to tone down the brightness.

On top of that I added some stenciling with burnt umber paint and

 a sentiment/poem.

DLP #4

Good morning!

Playing catch up with the
Documented Life Project.
I'm still working on January.

This is Jan 24th's project.
The Challenge is Writing
&
The Journal Prompt is Words with Friends

Since I have few friends who have stayed true over the course of my life I decided to start with a letter about them,
 how I feel about them,
what they mean to me,
etc.....

Now growing up we were always taught to keep things,
feelings,
to ourselves so
after writing the letter I got out my stencils and randomly started covering up my words,
thought's,
feelings.....

I finished with the yellow roses.....
Friendship Roses.

In these two close ups you can see some of my words peeking through.

Someone might even see her name hiding in there.
heehee

I'm really loving this project.
I'm just starting but I'm beginning to see where I will be able to work through some things that I need to work through
and that is definitely a good thing!

Messy office...2

If you saw my post yesterday then you saw my messy office
and my
perpetually messy desk!

I wrote that post a week or so ago and scheduled it.

However,
some time this week I got another spurt of energy and did a better number on my desk!
I now have more room to play than I've had in, probably, years!

Here it is now...

Look at all that usable space!

I'm right handed so my glue & heat guns are in an awkward place but they work better there because of the plug so I'm dealing with that...
and for some reason they took up more room on the right side...
I don't really get that but
it is what it is!

Hope everyone has a wonderful warm spring and a great summer!

My messy office.....

Ok,
I have a question.....

Why do we make so much more of a mess when we are supposedly "cleaning"?

Here's what things looked like in my office while I cleaned!

In all honesty I,
 once again,
forgot to take a before picture of my desk but,
this is what my desk usually looks like.....

not clean by no means but,
this is what it grew into while I was cleaning.....

Seriously why?
Happens every time!

Wish I could show you a prettier, clean, after photo of my desk but
if you are anything like me you know
the desk is the last thing to get cleaned,
as well as the first thing to be messed
and since I decided to work in my art journal last night it's a mess!

And once again,
I forgot to take a before picture
however,
this, below, is what this area looked like while "cleaning"...
trash bag and all!
LOL

Here we are today.....

Hmm, now I can see the ugly carpet.....sigh.....

I found this cart below on Amazon and grabbed it for my little paint station.....

Love that it's on wheels so I can just roll it over beside me while I'm working with them.
So much easier than having everything in several boxes all over the room!

My closet area however,
(yup, that is the real before picture, proving that "before" is always an after thought when it comes to me & picture taking...after making a mess on my desk and floor in the other side of the room I finally thought "Ooo, I should take before pictures")
went from this.....

(yup I love Amazon...lol)

to this.....

I still have a bit more cleaning to do
(does it ever stop?)
but I am so much happier in there now!
I can walk around without tripping on or kicking something!

Perpetually messy desk.
Cleaner, more organized closet.
Ugly carpet but cleaner floor.
Corralled paint supplies.

Took a few days but it was worth it!
Now I have room for a new mess!
haha

Thanks for stopping by!

Altered drawer...

Good morning!
Hope all is well with everyone!

Today I want to share a drawer that I found at an antique mall & altered.

I'm not much in a crafty mood these days
(depression & health issues can be such a pain in the rump)
so I am trying to focus on cleaning, organizing and decorations for my home.

When I bought this drawer I didn't really have a plan,
other than that I wanted to alter it in some way.

I bought it home and set it on the very messy floor in my office.

During one of my cruddy moods recently I decided that I was going to keep busy and the first place I headed for was that messy office floor!
(maybe I should do a post about that as well...we'll see)

In the midst of that cleaning spree I had my ah ha moment,
I was going to get rid of an unorganized mess on my desk and replace it with this drawer!

Woohoo,
Lookie, lookie....I took a before picture!

If you know me then you know I never remember to take a before picture of these things!

I used a Graphic 45 paper,
a Tim Holtz grunge board flourish,
a piece of ribbon,
metal filigree flower,
some mulberry flowers,
a yarn flower (made by me),
and some pearl trim bits.

After painting the drawer with cream (inside)
and black (outside)
I sanded here and there.

I finished off with a bit of vintage photo distress ink all over the paper.

Below you can see that I also sanded my flourish after painting it.

Thank you for stopping by!
Wishing you all a warm, wonderful spring!
Stay dry!

DLP #3

Hey there friends!

#3 Documented Life Project at Art to the 5th Academy
 is from January 17th

The Art Challenge is The Color Wheel
The Journal Prompt is "I found I could say things with color & shapes that I couldn't say any other way! (by Georgia O'Keeffe)

This was some more finger painting fun.
I stared at the challenge for a while and it finally hit me...
color "wheels"
LOL
So a few color circle that I added spokes to, to give me my wheels.
I added a few more circles in different sizes and outlined a bunch with a black pen then added some text around the "wheels".

Thanks for stopping by!

DLP #2

Good morning!

If you saw my last post then you know I'm playing catch up
with the Documented Life Project over at
Art to the 5th Academy.

This is from January 10th
The Art Challenge - Gesso
The Journal Prompt - The beginning is always today
(by Mary Shelley)

I had no plan with this one,
I just went a little finger painting happy.....

This was sooo much fun!
Felt good to let go and see what happens!

It may not have been my favorite work of art when I finished
but it is definitely growing on me and I'm so glad I was able to let go and do it!

DLP - Documented Life Project

Good morning everyone!

While enjoying my art journaling adventure this year I came across the
Documented Life Project
at
Art to the 5th Academy.

Since I have been dealing with my depression more often this year and I now have added health issues to add to that I thought
"Documented Life"
might be a helpful, therapeutic adventure I could use right now.

It started in January.
Every month has an overall theme
and
every week has a challenge and a journal prompt.

Not wanting to miss on any of it I am starting from the beginning so right now I am playing catch up.

Here is my first journal page...

January's theme...The blank page & how to face it!
Jan 1st Art Challenge...Book paper
&
Journal Prompt...Be your own goal keeper

I started with the book paper,
some stencils & modeling paste
and topped that with some paints & glaze
that I brushed all over then wiped off with a wet wipe.

I added a the word "goals" and the year with stickers that I added paint to.
To add a few goals I spread a bit of heavy gesso to write on.

Inspiration Wednesday #7

Good morning everyone!

This art journal spread brought me back to paper crafting.

I went over to my hoarded stash of papers
grabbed this paper but put it back because the
hoarding monster was yelling at me...
"NO not that one...I like that one!"
As you can see I went back and won!

I flipped it on the left page to show the back side of the paper and
add my words on the solid side of the paper.

The black & white polka dot is washi tape.

The center insert has book paper inside.

I colored my modeling paste words with marker
(spectrum noir & distress)
then added dots on a couple with paint pens.

Hope you're having a great week!

Inspiration Wednesday # 6

Howdy everyone!

I got to dip into my stash box for this one!
The original was done with little tags but I saw the opportunity to get rid of scrap stash so I grabbed some paper and a scalloped circle punch and used them instead
then I added some strips of thin yard to represent the strings on the tags.

Here are my pages...

Now when I started this I had the song lyrics
"Lolly Pop, Lolly Pop, Ooo Lolly Lolly Pop"
playing in my head!
(sorry if you now have that ear worm)
LOL

I was also thinking they could be balloons.

In the end,
I'm looking at it and seeing a couple flowers!

Isn't it wonderful how art can take your mind on an adventure?

I wasn't happy with the idea of this page in the first place but I'm so happy not only for the finished product but I so enjoyed the process.....
including the ear worm!
LOL

Thanks visiting!

Inspiration Wednesday #5

Good morning everyone!

I'm way behind in my blogging,
thanks to a bunch of health & personal issues,
I don't promise that this is the beginning of me staying on track but
I will try to catch up on a few posts.

With everything going on I have not much in the form of mojo but I have been trying to,
 at the very least,
work on my art journals.
Messy fun can be wonderful therapy when you need to escape.

So here are my 5th Inspiration Wednesday pages...

This was a new adventure with gel mediums

and texture

This heart on the bottom was gel medium with fabric strips smooshed in!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Easter!

My Artistic Adventure Challenge #7

It's time for a new challenge over at
My Artistic Adventures Challenge blog!

Our theme is

Easter

Create any NEW tangible item, Card, tag, ATC, Layout, altered art piece, Banner, pretty much anything you can come up with that is tangible using some of my digital images (or others).
(Sorry no digital entries)

Here is a look at what I created.....

I used these collage sheets from Heather's Etsy store...

I cut the egg card above to fit the back of the bottle.

I added a bit of moss, a mulberry flower and a couple little pearl trim pieces to the bottom of my bottle
which gave me a spot to tuck the Easter eggs in the "grass".
I layered some trim around the stem of the bottle and topped it with a seam binding bow.

Easy peasy!

*****

We can't wait to see what you create!

Please remember you can use other images to
play along & win the "Top three badge"
but in order to win the Random Draw (a free collage sheet)
 and
Designer's Choice (chance to Guest Design and receive free images)
you must use one of My Artistic Adventures images.

Don't forget to stop over and see the rest of the DT's creations over on the challenge blog!
