Mini album.....

Yay, it's summer!

A month or so ago I saw a mini album with journaling prompts (About Me) and I thought it was a good idea to write a book, about me, not only for future generations but also for myself.
My hope is to be able to get a bunch of stuff off my chest and leave something for others to get to know me after I've gone.
So I typed up my own journaling prompts, printed them out and started from there.

I used Prima's Stationer's Desk 6x6 papers.

Here is the cover of my mini.....

I'll spare you the tons of photos I actually took
and show you a couple
of the inside pages and pockets.....

Right now it's all pretty plain...

I'll add embellishments and photo's as I go along...

as well as all my journaling

Below is a look at the back

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you're having a great summer so far!

Liberty charm.....

Hi everyone!

I have another Gecko Galz DT project to show you this month.

I love the Red White & Blue Jewel It set this month so I had to make a charm.....

There were so many wonderful images to chose from...
I thought these two went well together

I glued them to a wooden piece,
punched a hole in the top corner
and added glossy accents on top.

I finished off with a few links, beads and clasp.

Easy Peasy!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great summer!

Altering...

Hi everyone!

Today I want to show you a couple of pieces that needed a good paint job!

Once again I forgot to get the before picture!

This first picture is after the first coat of paint...
also in the picture is the outer box of a set of drawers I also painted!

You can see the color of the wood that it was inside the seat of the chair.
Along with the need of painting I also had to sand down the rungs pretty good because they were chewed by a puppy we no longer have.
(same puppy that tore the carpet in the living room just to the right of the chair...some day we'll be able to replace that...one thing at a time!)

Below is the seat cover that was on it.....

UGLY!

This is what it looks like now.....

Here's a bit of a closer look at the paint, distressing and waxing I did.....

***

Below are the drawers before painted!

Yay, I got one before shot!
LOL

Each knob was a different color...
kidsy cutesy...
 not what I wanted!

Below you can see the finished piece.....

The outside is a creamy white,
a coral pink on the drawer faces and
brown for the drawer pulls.

To fancy it up a little more I added some lace trim around the inside of the top.

Now I have a pretty new place to put all my little bits and bobs!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Cactus be gone...

Good morning everyone!

A couple more days till the first day of summer!
Are you ready?
I sure am after that winter we had!

A couple of my goals this year were to get rid of some cactus
and play in a garden!

The cactus was left by the previous owners and
as much as I wanted to get rid of it I was a bit afraid,
so it took three years to finally do it.
And...
I found that that fear was justified!

OUCH!

Those little prickers were all over the place!

My daughter helped me...
we were picking those needle fine things out of our feet, hands and arms,
even though we wore shoes and
I used a shovel to dig them up...we didn't dare touch them with our hands.

I dug them up and she kinda, sorta, opened a lawn bag for me to drop it all in there.

This is what the cactus looked like...
(this isn't my pic,
 found this one on facebook...
I'm really lousy at remembering to take before pic's)

It covered a bed approximately 5 x 3 feet!
(Yes, Heather...larger than I told you...noticed my mistake when I went out later that night! YIKES)
LOTS of cactus!

The whole bed in front of the large rock was covered with cactus.
The big rock in front center of the bed was not there...
it was off to the side,
with cactus underneath it!
My daughter rolled it off the cactus...
we rolled it back to the bed,
to the front of that large rock, afterward, to brace it.

The flowers I bought were going to go in this bed but after removing all that cactus and being stuck with all those needles we changed our minds and decided it was going to stay a rock garden for now.

Off to the right of that bed is another bed...
(Nope, no before picture, once again)
covered with overgrown weeds and who knows what else,
so we moved on to that bed!

Lucky for us...no cactus in this one!
And the soil underneath all the mess is really nice!

Here it is after we added our flowers.....

Here is the back side.....

A few close ups.....

These below are my daughter's favorite!
"They look like coral!"

Love the colors on these!

My mint,
to add to a cup of tea or lemonade.....

It's been way too long since I'd gotten my hands dirty in a garden and I loved it!

I hope you are enjoying some time in the sun
and maybe a garden!

This did wonders for me,
helped in getting rid of my wintery mood!

Liberty ATC

Good morning everyone!
Hope you all are enjoying some great weather!

Today I want to show you one of my DT projects I made for Gecko Galz this month...

I started my atc with
Feathers paper from The Carnival paper pkg
and Little Miss Firecracker collage set
 both from Gecko Galz.
I used my Perfect Layers rulers to mat them,
then, using pop dots, I mounted the image on top of the background.

I tucked a little piece of lace trim under the image.

I made a twine bow and topped it with a butterfly (from Gecko Galz)
that I brushed some glossy accents on.

I added a few glitters to the firework sprays to give them the shimmer they deserved!

Have a great week!

Time piece tag

Good morning everyone!

Over at Gecko Galz this month we are doing a cross promotion with Opticillusions.

We were given
from Opticillusions to work with
and
any Gecko Galz products we chose to use.

This is what I made.....

The background paper, large blue flower and the timepiece are from Opticillusions.
The phone and banner pieces are from Gecko Galz.

I cut all my embellishments with my Cameo.

I inked everything with black soot distress ink.
I added glossy accents all over the timepiece.

I layered the doily, blue flower, timepiece and floral spray (from my stash).

The phone on the bottom of the tag and the banner with I-rock gems on top finished off my tag.
